My name is Melinda Thompson-King, and I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, and so much more. However, being a Black woman impacts how I move in all my other roles. As Black women, we bear the weight of the world on our shoulders. Everything from our families to the political labyrinth we currently find ourselves in (and everything in between) depends on us to support, nurture, and lead it into the next phase of life.
Designs by MTK was created to love on Black women, cheer us on regardless of our shade or size, and remind everyone how magical we truly are! We are the givers of life and the fertile soil that keeps everything growing, and we deserve to be celebrated!

This t-shirt design is my favorite because it powerfully symbolizes the intersection of key issues that are vital to our country’s future. The imagery of books in the "V" represents the fight against the banning of books and the ongoing struggle for knowledge and freedom of thought. Education is under attack, and access to information is crucial for progress.

The raised fist in the "O" is a direct reminder of the inequality that Black people face every day in this country. From systemic racism to economic disparities, the fight for justice and equality is far from over, and this symbol serves as a constant call to action.

The uterus forming the "T" in "VOTE" signifies the relentless attack on women’s reproductive rights. The battle for control over women’s bodies continues as states strip away reproductive freedom, making it more important than ever to stand up and protect the right to choose.

The "E" frames Breonna Taylor, which represents the many faces of those who have suffered unjustly at the hands of law enforcement. The killing of people of color, particularly Black men and women, in interactions with law enforcement must end. This shirt is a tribute to the voices silenced too soon and a demand for reform in our justice system.

Altogether, this t-shirt embodies the critical need for political engagement and underscores why we must all vote like our lives depend on it—because, for so many, they truly do. This is a call to protect freedoms, fight for equality, and seek justice for all.
